Revert "Issue #1111224 by bfroehle, sun, marvil07, dstol, plach, carwin: Introduce .gitattributes to end the CRLF/LF and binary diff horror, and detect/auto-fix whitespace errors."

This somehow wreaked all sorts of havoc on the testbots that I don't have time to look into atm because I'm on an emergency layover in Denver. *waves*
