Resolve #3241198 "Dropdown links not"

At some point this issue came back to the current 5.0.x branch. So here is the merge with issue fix branch fixing the issue.

PS: This is my first time using drupal branches to help fixing an issue and I am still pretty lost with them, so I am sorry if I have done it the wrong way?
